December 2024 Edition
Goodbye X, Hello Threads
Last year, we wondered whether Instagram’s platform Threads was poised to push X (formerly Twitter) out of the top spot for text-based social media apps. Today, tens of thousands of users are fleeing from X, and active users on Threads have reached more than 275 million.
With new features and significant recent growth, Threads might be a good option for your organization to consider if, like many other organizations, you’ll be discontinuing your use of X. But there are other platforms attracting X’s former userbase, too, which could be a better fit.

Certification and Ratings Collaboration 2024 Data Tool Updates

The Certification and Ratings Collaboration environmental data tool consolidates and summarizes data from seven organizations. Its 2024 update demonstrates improvement over time in our understanding of the environmental performance of global seafood production.
The Collaboration’s human rights data tool — which compiles human rights abuses and risks data on 96 countries that account for nearly all of the world’s seafood production — was also updated. Data confirms concerns many nonprofits and advocates have suspected. Nearly 70% of countries assessed have evidence of human rights abuses in their seafood sectors.
Good Work Continues

Last month, our Ed Walz gathered in Philadelphia with leaders of the Protecting Immigrant Families Coalition to discuss 2025 strategy. The election results may have many of us concerned about what the future holds, but we’re grateful to our partners for continuing to work towards more good.
