the power of communication

       to do more good

Tiffany Barnett, Strategist

Tiffany’s passion for storytelling led her to pursue a degree in journalism, and she launched her career as a newspaper reporter before earning a master’s degree in urban education. When she left the classroom, she transitioned to higher education communications, writing and copyediting for the Division of Student Affairs at Virginia Tech.

Since joining the Springboard team in 2020, Tiffany has been able to apply both her writing and teaching skills to a variety of projects. She helped the Children’s Alliance of Kansas promote a new online training program for kinship caregivers by developing a communication toolkit, which the Kansas Department of Children and Families used to create this social media post. She also helped the Ward 8 Community Economic Development initiative increase visibility by drafting and pitching an op-ed, which was published in the Washington Business Journal. Tiffany has contributed to the development of organizational and programmatic core messages on topics ranging from maternal mental health to early childhood education, and has conducted media scans to offer strategy recommendations for positioning in the press.

In true teacher fashion, Tiffany enjoys planning and co-hosting free webinars to share helpful communication strategies and resources, and she’s contributed to Springboard guides on working with a designer, developing a core message, and lessons learned from the box-office hit, Barbie.

Outside of work, you’ll find Tiffany reading, listening to true crime or comedy podcasts, hiking, walking her best four-legged friend, Squirt, and cheering on the Tar Heels with her husband.
